Manila, Philippines – July 8, 2025. FUJIFILM Business Innovation is strengthening its Philippine footprint with the establishment of a new Circular Manufacturing Center (CMC) within FUJIFILM Optics Philippines Inc. (FOPH) in Laguna. Set to begin operations in August 2026, this facility will focus on producing remanufactured multi-function printers (MFPs) to boost resource circulation efforts across the Asia-Pacific region.

Breathing New Life into Used Printers

The CMC will be built within FOPH, FUJIFILM’s manufacturing hub for imaging equipment. At this facility, collected MFPs from across Asia-Pacific will be disassembled down to their components. Each part will undergo thorough cleaning, inspection, and diagnosis to identify what can be reused. Usable parts will then be repaired as needed and reassembled into remanufactured printers.

FUJIFILM ensures that these remanufactured MFPs undergo the same rigorous inspection and quality control as brand-new units. These printers achieve up to 84% parts reuse rate by weight and are treated as new products, complete with reset usage history, updated manufacturing date, and fresh serial numbers.

Leveraging Filipino Expertise in Precision Manufacturing

FOPH is recognized for its advanced manufacturing capabilities, particularly in the production of precision equipment, such as camera lenses. FUJIFILM Business Innovation will leverage this expertise to optimize the operation of its remanufactured printer production line. Skilled personnel from FUJIFILM Optics Philippines will be trained as core members of the CMC operations to uphold Japanese-quality manufacturing standards locally.

By bringing remanufacturing processes from Japan to the Philippines, FUJIFILM aims to ensure stable product quality from launch while developing Filipino human resources with deep expertise in circular manufacturing.

Strategic Location for Regional Supply Chain

FUJIFILM highlighted the Philippines’ strategic location at the center of Asia-Pacific as a key factor in choosing Laguna for the CMC. This geographical advantage will help optimise logistics and supply chains for the distribution of remanufactured printers.

Production will initially focus on the award-winning ApeosPort-VII A3 color MFP, supporting FUJIFILM’s ongoing efforts toward a circular economy by minimising resource use and environmental impact.

Decades of Recycling Commitment

FUJIFILM Business Innovation has been implementing recycling policies since 1995, looking at the entire product lifecycle from design to disposal. The company established FUJIFILM Eco-Manufacturing (Suzhou) Corp. in China in 2008 and opened a similar CMC in the Netherlands in 2024 to support Europe’s circular economy goals.

“With the CMC in the Philippines, we strengthen our global production system, promote resource circulation, and reduce both natural resource use and CO2 emissions,” said Mr. Mutsuki Tomono, Executive Advisor for ESG and Corporate Sustainability at FUJIFILM Business Innovation. “We will continue to expand efforts that contribute to a more sustainable society.”
